Design

I drew up the basic design for the cabinet using Adobe Illustrator. This isn't the best way to draw schematics but the vector program does allow you to move and resize objects easily. The cabinet is a two part cabinet. I wanted this to be somewhat modular so I could take it apart and move it easily. I studied most of the designs available on ArcadeControls.com. I was inspired by the design of the Frostillicus two part cabinet (which has a much cooler control panel by the way). I liked the idea of being able to remove the top section which would make getting this thing up and down the stairs a little easier.

I didn't have a complete design before I started construction. I basically started with the Illustrator plans above and did some of the design as I went along. Some minor changes had to be made along the way but overall the cabinet come together rather quickly. Some of the construction details can be seen on the construction page.
